The sixth Summer Summit of the World Congress of Chinese Medicine (WCCM) opened in Changchun, capital of Northeast China's Jilin province, on July 31.

The conference attracted wide participation of some 600 people including academicians and experts in the field of Chinese medicine and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) from China and abroad.

Hosted by the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, the Summer Summit of the WCCM is a global academic event in the Chinese medicine sector.

Initiated in 2015, the summit has so far been held in Jiangsu, Hubei, Anhui, Jiangxi and Shaanxi provinces in China - with the participation of experts from around the world and the support from international organizations, research institutions and medical institutions.

Jilin province boasts rich Chinese medicine resources and has been promoting the integration of Chinese medicine in healthcare, research, education, and cultural tourism.

The province is currently accelerating its internationalization of Chinese medicine and the healthcare industry, with the aim of playing a positive role in the Belt and Road Initiative.

Jilin will build a distribution center for specialty medicinal materials in the Changbai Mountains and a standardized production base for medicinal materials in North China, forming a complete industrial chain and controllable Chinese medicine industry development system.

It will carry out research on key technologies in the entire production process of Chinese medicinal products, and strengthen the collaborative innovation of industry, university, research, and medical application.
