Northeast China's Jilin province has reported two new local asymptomatic cases of COVID-19. The individuals are close contacts of one of the asymptomatic patients from Heilongjiang province reported on Jan 13.

According to the province's health commission on Jan 14, these two new cases were found due to active nucleic acid testing and screening.

At present, the two new asymptomatic patients have been transferred to locally designated medical institutions for medical isolation and observation.

Tonghua and Songyuan cities have carried out follow-up investigations on the close contacts, sub-close contacts and general contacts of the infected individuals. The cities have also implemented measures to disinfect the living and working areas of both people diagnosed with COVID-19.

People returning from areas in Heilongjiang province impacted by COVID-19 and middle-and high-risk areas in China are reminded to take the initiative and report to the local community head. People should fully cooperate with control measures and nucleic acid testing. The same notice also applies to people who have had close contact with the above-mentioned asymptomatic patients.
