Grand ice, snow industry expo to kick off in Jilin province

The fifth Jilin International Ice and Snow Industry Expo will be held from Dec 25 to Dec 29 in Changchun -- capital city of Northeast China's Jilin province, and is expected to attract the participation of nearly 80 museums in China and over 400 companies this year.

The expo will continue to promote a combination of the Winter Olympics theme and ice snow culture, ice and snow tourism and winter sports in Jilin province and will stage nine main activities.

In response to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the expo will provide funds of 2 million yuan ($305,800) to subsidize shopping discounts and vouchers to stimulate spending, as well as organize online exhibitions and negotiations services.

The total exhibition area of the expo is 100,000 square meters, with an indoor area of 60,000 sq m catering for seven themed pavilions and 3,448 standard booths. The outdoor exhibitions area will cover 40,000 sq m and five activity areas will be set up.

As the only ice and snow-themed expo established in China to date, the event has been successfully held four times since 2016.

It is a large and influential flagship for ice and snow tourism industry in Northeast China, with a cumulative exhibition area for the expo to date of nearly 420,000 sq m, more than 1,500 participating brands, 466,000 visits and 852 million yuan of on-site transactions.
