After the completion of these projects, the industrial ecosystem of Changchun International Auto City is expected to be further boosted and its overall competitiveness and development potential will be enhanced.

In 2005, the Changchun Automobile Economic and Technological Development Zone was established.

As the only national-level development zone named after automobiles in China, after 15 years of development, its total output value reached 495.7 billion yuan ($73.46 billion) last year, a year-on-year increase of 4.5 percent.

The result is a massive 14.8 times that of 2005 and it accounted for 76 percent of the total output value of automobile industry in the whole province.

It has emerged an important automobile and auto parts production, R&D hub in China and even the world.

At the beginning of 2020, Changchun proposed building Changchun International Auto City, with a planning area of 471 square kilometers.

It takes the automobile development zone as its core and local auto giant FAW Group as the lead enterprise.

The auto city will be comprehensively built as a world-class R&D, production and post-market service base for automobile vehicles and auto parts -- and evolve into a high-quality development demonstration area for China's automobile industry.

At present, the auto city has five main automobile plants, seven major automobile brands, 340 auto parts enterprises, as well as many leading aftermarket auto service companies.

All of them are located in the city and all kinds of policies and support elements have been put in place there for these firms.

In addition, the auto city has formed a complete system for automobile innovation and development, auto parts and components support, recruitment and other facilities.

It has more than 100,000 experienced workers, nearly 1,000 entrepreneurs and managers engaged in the industry, as well as more than 20 automobile chambers of commerce.

To top it off, it also has 40 universities, 89 scientific research institutes and 25 national-level R&D institutions.

Of these, the FAW Group technology research center ranks first in the field of national automobile technology centers.

The inspection reports issued by the National Center of Quality Supervision and Inspection of Automobile Spare Parts (Changchun) has been recognized by 42 countries and regions.
