Northeast China's Jilin province received over 16.26 million tourists during the eight-day National Day holiday this year, around 89.65 percent of last year's level, according to the local authorities.

The total tourism revenue during the holiday reached over 10.75 billion yuan ($1.61 billion), 80.04 percent of the figure during the holiday in 2019, the local culture and tourism department said on Oct 9.

The department said that this year's per capita cost of tourists was 661.2 yuan, 89.29 percent of the average cost last year.

About 28 percent of the province's holiday tourism income comes from shopping, with the balance coming from accommodation, catering, travel, entertainment and scenic spot tickets, among others.

This year, 11 4A level scenic spots, 15 high-level rural tourism business units, 10 industrial tourism demonstration sites and provincial holiday resorts, as well as 19 national key rural tourism villages and 77 provincial-level rural tourism key villages have been added to Jilin's tourism portfolio.

To generate new tourism products, local authorities have integrated tourism resources. This has seen the launch of three series of new tourism products and 236 A-level scenic spots in the province have added nearly 100 new business products.

Furthermore, in order to promote culture and tourism spending during the holiday, Jilin organized themed activities and promoted consumption by issuing culture and tourism vouchers.

At the same time, more than 160 high-quality culture and tourism routes with various themes were launched during the holiday.
