Since the start of 2018, the Jilin branch of the Postal Savings Bank of China (PSBC) has invested more than 17 billion yuan ($2.49 billion) in agriculture-related loans in Jilin province.

The loans issued by PSBC Jilin branch have effectively serving agriculture, the countryside and farmers, and more than 70 percent of the beneficiaries are farmers.

In the wake of the launch of its micro loans business, the bank has issued 77.3 billion yuan in agriculture, countryside and farmer-related micro loans -- serving 770,000 farmers and the owners of micro and small-sized enterprises.

At present, the balance of the loans to agriculture, the countryside and farmers is 12 billion yuan, ranking it first among large State-owned commercial banks in the province.

The loans have gone to farmers who want to expand their areas given over to crop planting area and livestock breeding. Loans have also gone towards buying agricultural machinery -- to develop mechanized planting and breeding, to improve earnings from planting and breeding.

In addition to that, the bank has also actively helped more residents become prosperous and lifted others out of outright poverty.

By visiting customers and calculating the loan amounts according to their needs, the bank is also supporting farmers in their dreams and determination to start their own businesses.

Wang Tianyu is the head of the Dacheng family farm in Tongyu county.

In 2012, he began to work with the Tongyu county branch of the bank. From an initial application involving tens of thousands of yuan in rural joint guaranteed loans, his credit line has expanded to 500,000 yuan in family farm loans -- all going towards an expansion of his farm he could never have afforded without the support of the bank.

"In the past, my family only had 10 hectares or so of land, mainly planting corns. Production wasn't high and we could only afford food and clothing," Wang said.

In July 2014, Wang established the Dacheng family farm. "I want to get more people involved and help more people make it", he said.

With the help of the bank, he gradually developed and expanded his farm through the transfer of farmlands. At the same time, he cooperated with a number of universities to establish a small science and technology station, utilizing technology to increase production.

The farm has adopted scientific planting technology to become a national agricultural technology promotion and experimental demonstration base.

It also provides long-term technical guidance to local farmers, helping to advise poor households on how to go about learning science and technology and practice innovation.

In recent years, the PSBC Jilin branch has introduced a series of measures to continuously increase its support for new agricultural business entities including family farms, specialized large farms and specialized farmer cooperatives.

In so doing, it has helped with the development and growth of new agricultural business entities and with the research and development of new products.

This has effectively supported the growth of farmers' incomes and agricultural development.
