The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs released the 2020 China beautiful leisure countryside list on Sept 14, with eight villages from Northeast China's Jilin province making the cut, according to local media reports.

The eight villages are:

1. Maanshan village, Tumenling sub-district, Jiutai district, Changchun city

2. Youyi village, Huajiao town, Huadian city, Jilin city

3. Siping village, Siping town, Dongfeng county, Liaoyuan city

4. Qianwan village, Taiwang town, Ji'an city, Tonghua city

5. Taozi village, Qianan town, Qianan county, Songyuan city

6. Dagangzi village, Dagangzi town, Daan city, Baicheng city

7. Liudong village, Nanping town, Helong city, Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture

8. Gucheng village, Xiaoyang town, Meihekou city, Tonghua city

The selection of China beautiful leisure countryside list takes administrative villages as the main unit.

Those on the list draw the attention of visitors for their planting and breeding industry, rural scenery, lucid waters and green mountains, among other qualities.

They are also attractive because of their village buildings, local culture, folk customs and living environment.

The selected villages also assume a strong demonstration role in exploring new functions and new values, cultivating new industries and new business forms.

They also have prominent functional features, rich cultural connotations and other advantages, allowing them to develop and help with the wider upgrade of the rural leisure tourism industry.
