The table tennis hall is one of the five sports venues – called the Meihekou Sports Center - the city has built in recent three years to meet residents' rising demand for sports.

Besides the table tennis hall, there's also swimming, tennis and badminton halls and a comprehensive venue.

The comprehensive gymnasium is still under construction and projected to complete in October. It will be able to accommodate 17,000 people and the venue will hold Jilin's 19th Sports Meeting in 2022.

For seniors who don't want to go far, they can still find a variety of activities to take part in right at their communities.

At the service and activity center in Lianhua community on Guangming street, rooms for reading, calligraphy and drawing, exercising, crafting, dancing and so on are all open free to the residents.

"I come to write calligraphy with my friends every day at the center. The paper, brush pen and the ink are all provided to us for free. We are very happy here so I am very healthy," said 80-year-old Qu Xiujuan.

Besides offering services to the elders, the center also has a one-stop service hall to facilitate residents' life and a volunteer team to answer to their various needs.
