China held a conference at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Sept 8, to commend role models in the country's fight against the novel coronavirus epidemic.

The meeting honored outstanding individuals and groups in the fight against COVID-19, as well as outstanding Party members and grassroots Party organizations across the country -- many of whom were from Northeast China's Jilin province.

A total of 20 individuals and five collectives from the province were recognized as national outstanding individuals and groups.

Three individuals were awarded the title of outstanding Party member, while three grassroots party organizations were awarded the title of national advanced grassroots Party organization.
