The opening ceremony for the Fifth World Jilin Entrepreneurs Convention which was held on Aug 27 in Changchun -- capital city of Northeast China's Jilin province -- saw the participation of over 1,000 representatives of Jilin entrepreneurs, according to local media reports.

In accordance with statistics from Jilin Daily, these Jilin entrepreneurs from all over the world have helped to raise a total of 94.23 billion yuan ($13.7 billion) in investments for some projects that have strategic significance for industrial transformation and upgrading, and innovative development in Jilin.

At the opening ceremony, Bayin Chaolu, Party secretary of Jilin province, extended a warm welcome to the representatives and guests of the Jilin entrepreneurs.

He said that, in the past five years since the first convention was held, more than 2 million Jilin entrepreneurs had gone out into the world.

Some 84 Jilin entrepreneurs organizations had been established with 48,000 member enterprises and the number of Jilin entrepreneurs was still growing.

He added that, over the past five years, Jilin entrepreneurs have invested and brought in more than 350 billion yuan in investment and donated nearly 1 billion yuan to Jilin.

He said that at a critical period of the novel coronavirus outbreak, the domestic and foreign business associations of Jilin entrepreneurs and overseas Jilin entrepreneurs had made every effort to raise medical supplies for Jilin and China in the fight against the epidemic.

He said that after the epidemic had receded, the vast number of Jilin's entrepreneurs had actively responded to the call to resume work, production and commerce. They had made great contributions to the rapid economic recovery of the whole province.

He said that, at present, Jilin was speeding its transformation and upgrade of old industrial bases.

It was promoting its agricultural modernization, infrastructure construction -- cultivating a modern metropolitan area, building a platform for further reform and opening-up, and building an ecological civilization.

The opportunities for Jilin would always be opportunities for Jilin entrepreneurs, he said.
