A livestreaming team of students from Jilin International Studies University (JISU) -- in Northeast China's Jilin province -- successfully held a livestreaming session on platforms to sell agricultural products and specialties from the province's Shulan city on Aug 7, according to JISU officials.

The university's officials said that, affected by the novel coronavirus pandemic, sales of Shulan's agricultural products and specialties were facing difficulties.

With the help of livestreaming e-commerce and multiple online media platforms, the JISU livestreaming team helped the city expand its sales channels for agricultural products and opened up a new mode for assisting farmers and reducing poverty in the region.

During the livestreaming, the team invited a well-known local host to be anchor, as well as Shulan officials and school officials to promote the city's products.

Shulan’s high-quality agricultural products were recommended through product introductions, online interactions and other forms, which attracted the attention of 172,000 netizens.

Officials said most netizens actively interacted with each guest coming to the livestreaming, commented through online platforms and placed their orders.

Netizens said that through the livestreaming session, they learned about the quality and characteristics of Shulan's agricultural products and specialties.

They also learned about the entrepreneurship of young people, set on helping farmers and helping to reduce poverty alleviation; also getting a higher profile for the firm belief of universities, governments and media that by joining forces they could help promote rural revitalization and Jilin's revitalization.
