An important promotional meeting for projects in the Changchun international auto city was held on June 28, to accelerate the construction of the auto city, according to local reports.

The meeting was held at the Changchun Automobile Economic and Technological Development Zone in Changchun, capital of Northeast China's Jilin province.

Officials said that zone has planned 165 projects -- each valued at more than 50 million yuan ($7.08 million) -- with a total investment of 185.17 billion yuan.

They said projects worth 17.7 billion yuan will settle in the zone within the year.

Officials said that with joint efforts -- being made by Jilin province, Changchun city, the zone and Gongzhuling city -- projects in the zone have moved ahead smoothly and at a high speed.

One example is the FAW-Hongqi new energy factory, a new energy and intelligent network innovation pilot base launched by FAW and the zone, as well as the intelligent Linglong Tire plant -- all have started construction, which officials said would boost development of the auto sector in the zone.

In addition, the 200-hectare Xihu Park is also under rapid construction and part of the park will open to the public within this year, according to officials.
