Hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Jilin Provincial Committee, a China-Russia electrical industry online negotiations event was held on June 18 in Changchun, capital of Northeast China's Jilin province.

Officials said the event aimed to minimize the impact of the novel coronavirus epidemic on bilateral trade between China and Russia and boost cooperation between two countries in dealing with the risk of a world economic downturn.

Held through a video conference, the event saw the participation of representatives from more than 100 companies in Russia and China.

Feng Qingzhong, president of the Jilin council, attended the event and gave a briefing on the council's achievements over the recent years, as well as on cooperation between Jilin province and Russia.

He said the event would help boost partnerships between companies in two countries and promised the council would continue to offer every possible support for those partnerships.

Officials said the online event saw agreements for intended business worth $250,000, and upcoming meetings are expected to achieve more fruitful results.

They said the event would lay a solid foundation for further cooperation between two countries and would definitely contribute to stabilizing China-Russia economic and trade cooperation.
