More than 50 people, including journalists, visited the Jilin branch of China Southern Airlines in Changchun, capital of Jilin province, during the company’s open house on May 15 to learn about its operations.

They visited the hall where aircrew prepare for flights and learned about their preparation routine, witnessing firsthand the strong emphasis the airline places on safety.

They also visited the company’s base of operations. According to a director of the operation office, China Southern Airlines’ headquarters has an AOC (Airline Operations Center) and its various branches have established GOCs (Ground Operations Centers) to allow the airline to function more effectively and efficiently.

GOCs adopt an integrated decision-making working model that enables full-scale synchronous control of aircraft, passengers, cargo, baggage, information, and crew resources, said the director.

Thanks to this management model, flights are nearly always on time and passengers are offered a great flight experience.
