College graduate Cai Xue has worked as a farmer in her hometown of Shulan city in Northeast China’s Jilin province for four years. The 27-year-old returned from Shanghai in 2014, and is now in charge of a 187-hectare farmland.

About one hundred kilometers away, 28-year-old Zhang Nannan, who owns a 285-hectare farmland in Yongji county, shares a similar experience with her.

Over the past few years, more and more college graduates of Jilin province have been encouraged to return to their hometown and lead the villagers in developing new commercial modules, such as agricultural e-commerce, rural tourism, brand marketing and preliminary processing.
