Jilin is working on building a tourist cooperation community in northeastern Asia, as was elaborated at a free trade zone forum held in Hunchun, Jilin province on August 30.

Initiated by the Tourist Development Committee of Jilin, the scheme aimed to intensify the cooperation with surrounding countries and regions to boost the tourism industry in various major cities in Jilin, including Changchun, Hunchun, Songyuan and Baicheng.

Attractions dotted around these cities will be connected and further developed in the next few years, offering tourists a one stop experience within the province.

Cross-border tourist industry will also step up a gear in Jilin. Foreigners will be shepherded into the sightseeing districts by self-driving cars, trains, cruises and airplanes.

Endowed with particular regional advantages and beautiful landscapes, Jilin has maintained a good momentum in its tourism industry. Statistics reveal that Jilin received 190 million tourists in 2017, of which 70 percent were from the northeastern Asian countries, such as Russia, Japan and Korea.

"The goal is to make Jilin a world-class tourist Mecca for people to relax and enjoy," said Tian Yunpeng, vice counsel of the Tourist Development Committee of Jilin.
