Northeast China's Jilin province has made impressive progress in its economic, cultural, social and environmental undertakings over the past three years, which have in turn largely improved residents' quality of life.

Thanks to the new concept of "high-quality development", which has replaced "fast growth" as a fundamental economic development target in China, great progress has been made in the province, especially in the development and rejuvenation of old industrial bases.

Jilin's economic indicators, such as GDP, industrial added value, and value added to industrial enterprises above designated size, have continued to grow steadily over the past three years. Last year, Jilin's economy grew about 5.3 percent, and the government aims to maintain this growth rate by achieving about 6 percent this year.

According to the province's development plan, Jilin's GDP in 2020 is expected to double the figure that was recorded in 2010. By that time, a coordinated regional development mechanism will have been formed and people's standards of living will have improved even further.
