Deputy Zhao Biao was eager to talk about a new proposal for promoting good China-produced films in primary and middle schools at a panel discussion of the Jilin NPC deputies on March 8.

Zhao is the chairman of Changchun Film Studio and is interested in promotion of Chinese films, particularly those about the Red Army.

He explained that Changchun Film Studio was established in 1945 and has witnessed the wars and the national struggle. Several films about war heroes and patriots have been produced by the studio.

Zhao suggested promoting these films in schools to help form young people's character and show them a true history of the events.

He also proposed building a film database for elementary and middle school students and hoped that they could use it to learn about Chinese culture and to develop strong convictions.

The films describe how soldiers fought for their country and how China was established.

Zhao said that presenting history, and particularly the history of the establishment of the country, is one of the most significant roles of the studio.

He added the company will continue to work on these themes to increase people's confidence in their culture.

At the conference, Zhao also referred to six cooperative programs including one for constructing a tech film-themed park integrating Jilin province's ice and snow culture to promote the tourism industry.
