The development of a country primarily depends on talents and education is the key to cultivate talents, CPPCC member Yang Zhenbin said during the ongoing two sessions at an interview.

Yang is the Party secretary of Jilin University. Being an educator himself, he has his own views on cultivating talents.

Graduates have contributed immensely to the development of China since 1999 when China's colleges started to recruit more students.

In terms of education, Yang said people should obtain good education since young and educators should pay attention to preprimary education.

Meanwhile, the quality of higher education should be improved to cultivate talents, to realize which government should offer support to colleges.

Yang suggested that talents cultivation in northeast and the west parts of China should be a focus. The revitalization of these areas urgently calls for talents.

"Talents include both of those who have graduated from local colleges and those that are attracted to the places," Yang explained. "However, graduates are the main force."

In recent years, the Jilin government has focused on talents cultivation by putting forward several suggestions on encouraging talents to participate in innovation and entrepreneurship trends.

Yang praised the suggestions and said these measures will activate talents cultivation in the province.
