The first session of the 13th Jilin Provincial People's Congress opened on Jan 26 in Changchun, capital of Jilin province. Acting Governor Jing Junhai delivered the government work report at the opening session.

The report summarizes the government's achievements in 2017 and sets new goals for the coming year. The livelihoods achievements inspired all the attending deputies.

More than 7,000 disabled people in urban areas have received help in setting up their own business and 100 new elder residences were built in villages.

Zhang Yue, a provincial CPPCC member, said the Jilin government has achieved much in livelihoods but more attention should be paid to poor people with serious diseases. He suggested establishing a serious disease tracking system to further disease prevention.

Deputy Du Youlan suggested that government staff members should improve their service quality and that a noon shift should be arranged to make it convenient for the public to obtain service anytime in the day.

Deputy Yang Guang was impressed by the transportation mentioned in the report.

"Being a member of the urban transportation system, I think we should invest more in urban transportation infrastructure that would be more convenient for people when they travel around," Yang said.
